This game was published in 1993
on Commodore Format's covertape number 38. However there is an interesting
story behind the publication of this game:
Initially this game was
written in 1988/1989 and was called "Breakout" and had some
strong interest from Hewson Consultants who were considering
publishing it on their own label. At their request, a few extra features
were added in order to inject some variety into the game play (most
notably the console sub-games). Despite these additions, Hewson decided
not to go ahead and publish, and the game virtually died while the
author went to University.
Sometime during 1991, the
game was resurrected and the well-known Commodore Format were
invited to buy the game outright for one of their cover tapes.
Unfortunately, they went ahead and published it without any kind of
approval or payment to the copyright holders. Reluctantly, we issued a
claim against them through the courts for breach of copyright. The
case was heard in the Manchester Magistrates court and went in our
favour, resulting in an award for a sum of money plus expenses against
Future Publishing.
